Liquid-cooled charging cables are better in charging cooling method comparison
With the continuous development of new energy science and technology and the promotion of new energy vehicles, electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular. The biggest problem that comes with it is charging. The emergence of this problem is a new opportunity and brings new challenges to the charging industry. For example, with slow charging rates, the natural way to improve charging efficiency is to increase the charging power, which for the charging side is generally to increase the current. This increase in charging current will lead to overheating of the charging post, which can be largely mitigated by the use of liquid cooling technology.
Most of the existing cooling methods are natural cooling and liquid cooling. Natural cooling is heavily influenced by external temperatures, resulting in ineffective cooling and making it difficult to cool the cables quickly. Liquid cooling cools both the cable and the charging port, reducing the cross-sectional area of the cable core. Its efficient charging method significantly reduces the charging time of the vehicle and is now the dominant cooling method.
Liquid cooling is further divided into water cooling and insulating oil cooling. Water cooling provides the best heat dissipation, but is generally suitable for areas above zero degrees, while insulating oil cooling is relatively poor in terms of heat carrying and viscosity, but as the name implies is insulated and therefore safer and more reliable.
For existing companies developing new energy charging technology, OMG' has been developing and optimising liquid cooling cables and is committed to being the world's leading supplier of liquid cooled charging cables solutions.
