Fast charging piles, as an important part of public charging facilities, have some specific requirements for charging cables. These requirements are designed to ensure the safety, efficiency and reliability of the high-power charging process. The following are the main requirements of charging cables for fast chargers:
1. High power transmission capacity: fast chargers typically provide higher power charging and therefore place high demands on the transmission capacity of the charging cable. Charging cables need to be able to withstand high current and high power transmission to ensure the stability and efficiency of the charging process.
2. High temperature performance: Due to the fast charging speed of the fast charging pile, the charging cable will generate a certain amount of heat in the transmission process. Therefore, the charging cable needs to have good high temperature performance, can maintain a stable working temperature in high power charging, to avoid overheating leading to safety hazards. Liquid-cooled charging cable is currently the best cable choice for high-power charging, which utilizes the circulation flow of the cooling medium inside the cable to achieve efficient heat dissipation, so that the cable in the charging process to maintain a low constant temperature, to overcome the heat on the charging gun, charging cables, charging piles of thermal damage.
3. Good insulation performance: charging cable needs to have good insulation performance, can effectively isolate the high-voltage energy in the charging process, to prevent current leakage and electric shock and other safety issues.
4. Cable durability: As charging cables are frequently plugged and bent in daily use, they need to have good abrasion resistance and durability. The outer material of the charging cable should have the characteristics of tensile, compression and abrasion resistance to prolong its service life. Meanwhile, fast chargers are usually installed in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments. Therefore the cables also need to have good waterproof and dustproof performance to be able to work properly in harsh weather conditions and avoid the influence of moisture and dust on the inside of the cable.
